Catching up with submissions and fighting spam
Posted by Dan in Domaining.in News
As you can probably guess we receive A LOT of free submissions on a daily basis, so many in fact that we now have a backlog of sites to review.
Unfortunately, I’d say that at least 90% of submissions we receive are spam, which is a real pain to weed out.
As you know we are quite selective about the sites that we accept into our directory and we aim not to let any poor-quality, spam sites through. As a result we check every site by hand and manually edit titles, descriptions, and categories which is a pretty labor intensive process.
It’s also a pretty dull task.
As a result I’m going to start getting tough on spam and will ban IP addresses that are submitting poor quality sites. This may also be bad news for directory submission services so please if you use the directory, be fair and don’t submit sites that don’t meet the quality criteria listed on the submission page.
At the moment we probably get between 300-400 submissions per day, and it takes some serious effort to keep our heads above water.
Because of the long delay in review times I’ve recently added many high-value, budget-minded premium options, as well as other additional like-minded directories.
